The Carolina Panthers are set to sign a former first-round pick. The Panthers have used significant offseason resources to try to aid Bryce Young’s development for the upcoming season.
The Panthers traded for wide receiver Diontae Johnson, then traded up to draft Xavier Legette with the No. 32 overall pick. They traded up again to draft running back Jonathon Brooks. While Brooks is expected to be the lead back for the 2024 season, the Panthers are adding a player who can be a change of pace for the former Texas standout.
According to Jeremy Fowler with ESPN, the Panthers are set to officially sign Rashaad Penny in the next week or so.
The Seahawks drafted Penny in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2023 season.
Penny has 1,951 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 348 attempts in his six-year NFL career. He’s recorded 28 receptions for 227 yards and a touchdown during his time in the league.
